yamaha unveils autonomous unmanned helicopter ‘FAZER R G2’
Yamaha Motor introduces ‘FAZER R G2’, an industrial helicopter with an automated navigation system. In an effort to expand the capabilities of unmanned drones, the team has developed a machine with a redesigned large main rotor, an effective payload capacity of 50 kg, and an improved propulsion system. The company hopes this new transport aircraft will help solve problems in a variety of fields, such as material distribution in mountainous areas and long-distance distribution beyond the line of sight.

increased payload capacity reduces time, cost, and labor
The FAZER R G2 by Yamaha Motor (find more here) features a new large main rotor with an increased radius of 1.8 meters and a modified shape that improves cooling performance. This change has increased the payload by 10 kg and improved the propulsion performance. By optimizing the tank volume, using a lightweight camera and a lithium-ion battery, the total payload has been increased by 15 kg compared to the previous model, and the maximum payload is 50 kg.
Payload (effective cargo capacity) is one of the performance factors that have the greatest impact on the efficiency of transport operations. Conventional machines required at least 29 flights to transport 1 ton of material. The new helicopter does this in at least 20 flights, helping to reduce construction time, costs and labor.
The dimensions of the aircraft are 3908 x 734 x 1226 mm, with a tail rotor diameter of 550 mm. The engine has a total displacement of 390cm 3 and is a water-cooled 4-stroke OHV 2-valve/horizontally opposed 2-cylinder. The control frequencies are 73MHz (manual control) and 2.4GHz (automatic control). The control system is based on the original technology developed by the corporation (YACS II, FMS4, etc.).
The FAZER R G2 helicopter will be exhibited at the ‘1st Drone Summit’ to be held at the Kobe International Exhibition Hall on September 1st, 2022.
